In 2015, Tom released the album “The Road”, a roots rock album reflecting love, loyalty and the hard road travelled. Critics welcomed the new album with the Press Association commenting on the quality of the song writing and R2 magazine proclaiming, “honesty, that is what is at the heart of this album, honesty”. There is no pretence here. It is an authentic organic folk rock album with simple acoustic arrangements to support a voice showing the cracks.

In 2017 when living in the mountains in France Tom recorded a live solo acoustic album in wood vaulted chapel in a hill top village. The album, The Shore, is a raw and vulnerable collection of observations of the world, reflecting the stories of the brave and broken, solace and strength, the importance of compassion and the need to return the love and care that mother nature gives to us.

“Songs with a captivating intrinsic beauty” Acoustic Magazine

“With a sound recalling Ray Lamontagne and John Martyn his songwriting more than stands up to peers past and present.” Strangebrew

In 2011, Tom released his acclaimed debut album “Fire In The Doll’s House”. It was immediately well received with BBC Radio commenting that the album title track and lead single was a “pearl amongst the oysters”. Musically it reflects Tom’s folk origins and one can hear his Irish roots and the influences of Dylan, Martyn, Springsteen and Waits. It was proclaimed a “superb debut” that introduced his voice and musicianship, whether the intricate acoustic guitar work on “Where Are You Now” or the sensitive piano accompaniment on “Kitty.” It was also noted for his insightful song writing with songs that reflect his own experiences and the times we live in.

The Ballad of the Bravehearts comes from a recording session at the famous Sawmills Studios in Cornwall that can only be reached by boat. It is a collection of songs that evoke the sounds of the wide open spaces in the mountains where Tom spent many years that resonates with fans who live on the great plains of North America. Whilst reflecting his folk rock roots this album has more of a rock feel reflecting the influences of Petty, Springsteen and Weller. There is electric guitar in the mix this time and features lead solos inspired by Tom’s studies at the famous Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles.

“Natural and authentic. The restless sounds of a world-wise troubadour ★★★★★” R2 Magazine

Old man praying on the pavement in London as people walk by. A photo of poverty and hardship. Black and white.

Written at a different time in Tom’s life the 4 track EP Snapshots of Reality reflects the harsher urban living of London, capturing moments that tell the stories of injustice and hardship, environmental destruction and hope that humanity can find a better way. In comparison with other albums, the music has a more modern folk rock soundscape whilst the multi-layered vocals reflect the influence of classic rock icons such as Crosby, Stills and Nash.

“a pristine EP of modern folk with musical gems deserving high recognition and acclaim ★★★★ ” Modern Rock Review

New album due for release next year “Blood, Cigarettes and Pain” due for release next year.

A singer once asked Tom at a concert where his singing voice comes from. Without considering his answer with honesty he replied, “Blood, cigarettes and pain.” These words became the title of the album. It is a truth that is reflected in these songs that tell the story of a hard life lived on the road less travelled. There has been blood and there has been a lot of cigarettes and there has been pain and the alcohol that goes with it. Whilst these songs are the soundtrack of Tom’s life they are songs that people relate to in their own lives which is something many fans have said about Tom’s songwriting over the years. We have all been through tough times. In many ways this is the follow up to the acclaimed album The Road with the addition of electric guitar giving this album an edgier roots rock sound.
